As much as we love Indian wear, sometimes it feels like there isn't really a lot of options for thinking outside the box. There is a handful of ways to tie a sari, two ways to pair your duppata with your lehenga, and pretty much one way to wear a salwar suit; what's an eclectic bride to do? Well, we've found the trend for brides and grooms that want to try something new; the dhoti!

Dhoti's don't exactly come from a high-fashion background. It was traditionally a men's garment worn for function - definitely not fashion. This season though, India's top designer and socialites have revived the dhoti in such a stylish way!

anju modi India Couture Week Men

We love how Anju Modi presented dhoti style pants with embroidered jackets for men at the recent India Couture Week. While a guy in a well fitted suit can make us swoon, a groom that's confident enough to rock a look like this will have all the girls in the room melting with envy.

Not to leave the ladies behind, Anju Modi also showed a fabulous range of dhoti style outfits for women. These looks would be perfect for a pre-wedding function or post wedding cocktail party. There is a real fusion vibe to many of these looks that could translate well for a western even too.

If your aren't ready to invest in the trend yet, you can also take a cue from the ever fashionable Sonam Kapoor and wrap an existing sari in the dhoti style. So far the best tutorial we've found on how to master this style is via MissMalini.com by the sari master Kalpana Shah.

If you have a colour block or graphic print sari (something Masaba Gupta would be perfect), this is great way to get some new use from it.
