Let me just start this post by saying the Youngsters Party is by no means a brand new trend, it's been big in India for several years now, but it is new to the North American market. What it is, is exactly what the name implies; a chance for all the 'young' people in the family to get together and party before the shaadi.

I first heard about a Youngsters Party on fashion blogger Tanvi's blogShe had shared a post about attending a pre-wedding function at her brother's wedding called a Youngsters Party and I was instantly intrigued. I'd heard of bachelor parties and bachelorette parties before, but a mixed gender party minus Aunties and Uncles before the wedding - that was new!

Since then I've heard of a few other Youngsters Parties, but it's a trend I think will really take off in coming years in North America. This would be the perfect venue for inappropriate inside jokes from the groomsmen, slideshows with pictures the bride and groom don't want their parents to see, and serious club style dance offs. Okay, jokes aside, it would also just be a really fun party where everyone could dress down, enjoy a drink, and just hang out before the wedding.

Another great option; throw a Youngsters Party with a theme. A 70s theme, a beach luau, or a Star Wars inspired party wouldn't be easy to pull off for an Indian reception, but you could definitely get the young people in your family on board for something themed. It's a great way to put your personal touch into the wedding and enjoy a fun evening with friends.

What do you think, will the Youngsters Party trend take off?
